1) Works exactly as advertised! I'm very happy with the whole experience. -
I was skeptical at first that it would actually deliver as promised, but it does. It's really 2% on ALL purchases. I've had the card for 6 months and it works as advertised.
The only caveat is that you don't get your cash back right away. You have to wait until the end of the billing cycle. So when you buy a $100 item you will get $1 cash back at the end of that billing cycle. Then you pay the bill, then the second $1 cash back will be applied at the end of the following billing cycle. So it can take 1 - 2 months to get your full 2% cash back. But if you are in it for the long haul to build of cash back over time, that's not a big deal. It will accumulate. It's just not as fun to watch it grow in real time like it is with the 1.5% Capital One Quicksilver Card. But what you sacrifice in fun you make up for with more money. That's an easy choice for me!!!
2% does add up pretty fast, especially if you pay all your monthly bills with the card.
It's important to be able to pay off the entire balance every month though to get the full 2% in a reasonable time. If you pay partial balances each month you're not going to get the second 1% for all your purchases, only for the amount you pay off. So if you don't carry a balance, this card is great!
The card has one of those chips in it that lets you use it in foreign countries as well. Wal Mart also uses this technology now instead of the mag strip to swipe it.
The website for managing your account also gives free monthly credit score updates. So that's a nice bonus feature that isn't well advertised in the marketing materials.
And the sign up process was SUPER easy. It took me all of 10 minutes from start to finish. Then I had the actual card in my mailbox within a week.
One last interesting thing....the card number is on the back of the card, not the front. This is meaningless in the large scheme of life. But it's different and that makes it interesting to me. It's actually quite a conversation starter when I use the card. Cashiers stop and look at the card and ask me what it's about all the time. I've never had that experience with any other card.
UPDATE: I've had the card for about 9 months now and Citi just updated their account website based on customer feedback. The website is really nice to use now (That was a detractor previously) with all the most useful features right there on the main screen, including a button to check your credit score. There is no hunting around for the section you want.

2) Spend money and get cash back, pretty simple - 2% cash back on any purchase, no category fuss too worry about.
Free monthly Fico Score pulled from Equifax (BC O8).World Master Card
Many free included features, but have not tried yet such as "price rewind" and extending warranties
Citi usually single pulls for approval of this card and its usually is Equifax. Unlike Capitol One that often will pull all 3 cras leaving you stuck with 3 hard inquires reporting for 2 years.
Soft pull credit limit increase at 6 months.
No annual fee
Might be my favorite card and favorite issuer.
Just got the Citi Premier, 50K bonus points and its a World Elite Mastercard with first year AF waived. Check that one out too
UPDATE 3-9-2016
Have had the Citi Double Cash card for 17 months now.
Have a total of 3 Citi credit cards, Double Cash, Premier and Aadvantage Platinum Select.
Have received 2 credit limit increase without a hard pull or inquiry and expect to qualify for another one next month. I never request credit limit increases if it results in a new inquiry.
Just called Citi to request a lower APR on this card. While I keep my utilization reporting at 0% monthly on credit cards (pay in full) still always try to get the lowest competitive rates.
They could not lower the rate on this card. They did see an offer to lower the APR on my Aadvantage by 2% so calling was still a win and worth the effort. Citi invited me to call back again.
This card still remains the best 2% card for my needs on certain spending.
Have many cards, with many issuers and multiple cards with some and all have been satisfactory. Find Citi's service, rewards and sign up offers to be among the best.
In close,
Great card for certain spending.
Limit can grow over time.
Its cool looking? :)
UPDATE 4-17-2016
This card keeps getting better (and other citi cards)
Just received an email from Citi on expanded benefits taking effect on 5/15/2016
1. Purchase protection went from 60 days to 90. Basically, if you purchase a product and the merchant refuses to accept a return within 90 days, Citi will reimburse the full price of the merchandise or up to $300.00 (max 1000.00 per year) Very nice for those small purchases!
2. Extended Warranty - Citi now extends purchases for a FULL 2 YEARS PAST manufactures warranty period. If as a consumer you buy an extended warranty on top of manufacturer's warranty, Citi will still provide 2 years after that date!
Quite a bit of buzz on consumer credit card review sites, some stating that Citi Cards newly extended warranty policies easily make it the best cards for consumer purchase protection and warranties.
3. Price Rewind - Tracks prices for 60 days, reimburses difference if lower price. If you find a lower price, you can request reimbursement for the difference. (500.00 max on single item / 2500.00 per year per account)
Usually I use the card that gives me the best rewards when making purchases. Would rather have a better warranty coverage than a few rewards dollars in many cases. My 3 Citi Cards (AAadvantage - Premier - Double Cash) may see more use with these increased benefits over My Amex or Discover cards.
Also, did get a 3rd soft pull cli on this card (one every 6 months now) Limit has almost tripled in 18 months.
Citi did a stellar job at posting my free 60k American Airlines points within 2 days of statement cut after meeting spend on their Aadvantage Platinum Select Card. Some initial checks, this sign up offer is worth about 750.00 in free airfare. Check out that card if AA program is of interest. It also includes same purchase benefits.
